Spider-Man franchise gets release dates

Following writer Robert Orci’s abrupt and recent departure from Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man franchise, not to mention fans’ and critics’ lukewarm response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the web-slinger’s onscreen future looked uncertain, that is, until, the studio issued a press release to coincide with San Diego Comic-Con 2014, announcing release dates for The Sinister Six and The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

The Sinister Six, written and directed by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), will hit theaters on November 11, 2016, while The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is getting pushed to an unspecified date in 2018. However, Sony isn’t abandoning the slot originally held for the third entry in the Spidey series. Replacing the film on its original release date of June 10, 2016 will be an adaptation of the popular video game Uncharted, directed by Seth Gordon.

The release schedule, which strategically places the third Spider-Man film after the release of The Sinister Six, may mean we’ll see Peter Parker taking on the titular villain team-up, which was set up at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Only time, or Comic-Con, will tell. ~Daniel Horowitz

The rebooted Spidey movies have been terrible. You wouldn’t expect a sequel to Batman & Robin, and you wouldn’t consider making one to this summer’s Spidey equivalent, either.

I LOVED the rebooted series and look forward to more. This is the best Peter yet! Bring on many many more awesome movies!
