Star Trek star Zachary Quinto comes out of the closet

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 17, 2011 | 13 Comments

After refusing to confirm rumors for some time now, Zachary Quinto, 34, who played Spock in the newest Star Trek movie, has publicly admitted he’s gay. He revealed the truth about his sexuality in an interview with New York Magazine, in order to speak out against bullying. He made a video for the ‘It Gets Better’ campaign to support victimized gay and lesbian teens, saying, “As a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it, but as a human being I look at it and say Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that? We’re terrified of facing ourselves.” Quinto, who plays a role in the recently-released big screen comedy What’s Your Number? starring Anna Faris, will also reprise his role as Spock in the 2012 Star Trek sequel.

Dammit! I was hoping for Spoke and Uhura to hook up. Now it won’t be believable.
Wait, did anyone actually see him come out of the closet or did he just beam himself out?

Mad props for him coming out, since that can be a whole lot tougher when you’re famous. But he is so hot, gosh it seems all the extremely sexy people are gay

I say it was good he didn’t come out well on Heroes. It would send a bad message if on of televisions biggest bad guys was being played by an actor who identifies as gay.

It is pretty sad that in this day in age that people are still afraid to tell the world that they are gay or that this is a story at all. I am happy that he did come out and I hope more people do and be able to live their lives open and free just as they should!!!

Don’t care, but his looks just scream gay to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
