I am extremely offended that there are sighted people playing blind people who are perfectly capable of playing themselves. 90 percent of the blind community is unemployed, and many are very intelligent, capable, and very willing to work. So instead of putting blindfolds on sighted people and have them play at something they know little about, why not give the job to a perfectly capable blind person who would have a much better idea of what they are doing.

    Are you kidding?

They are actors. That’s what they do. I guess real pirates should have been used for Pirates of the Caribbean and real Doctors should be used for Grey’s Anatomy.

    Lighten up!

You should be the one to lighten up, and perhaps it would do you good to re-read Blindness again (judging by your previous comments I assume you’ve read it at least once). In it you’ll remember that people were not blind at first – and then they were – and then they weren’t. So what would be the point of hiring completely blind actors? Should Forrest Gump have been played by someone borderline retarded? In Hotel Rwanda should Paul Rusesabagina have been portrayed by somebody who actually went through the genocides and not a talented actor like Don Cheadle?

Also, remember that the studios need movie stars to sell their films – it is a business, first and foremost.

It has nothing to do with a lack of sensitivity, its called common sense – go fight your ‘war’ elsewhere (maybe to the people behind the on Stevie Wonder.)

I don’t lack sensitivity at all. I have done a lot of charity work with the CNIB.

I just disagree with your absurd comments and personally feel you do your cause a disservice by making them. Instead of people taking you seriously you will be dismissed as a fanatic or a nut.

Ken reiterated my point very well so no need to do so myself.
