Stephen King slams Twilight series as ‘tweenager porn’

Not everyone was a fan of the successful Twilight series and certainly not acclaimed author, Stephen King. In a recent interview with The Guardian to promote his new novel, Doctor Sleep, he referred to the Twilight book series as “tweenager porn.” The 65-year-old author said he had read a few titles, including Twilight, out of professional interest and he found them underwhelming. He said: “I read Twilight and didn’t feel any urge to go on with her. I read The Hunger Games and didn’t feel an urge to go on.” He added, “I read Fifty Shades Of Grey and felt no urge to go on. They call it mommy porn, but it’s not really mommy porn. It is highly charged, sexually driven fiction for women who are, say, between 18 and 25.” Stephen King’s novel, Doctor Sleep will be released on Tuesday.

I felt the same way about Twilight and Hunger Games. Never even tried 50 Shades. BUT they fill a genre. Just like his books do. At least people are still buying books and reading. People say movies and internet and texting would make books obsolete and people would stop reading correct english with txt or lol’s or LMFAO’s etc., but Potter and 50 shades and Hunger Games and Twilight has helped keep reading alive and still educational. It peaked kids interest so I’ll give them props for it.

I don’t respect people who criticize other people who do the same job. It’s obvious jealousy. Meyers calls herself a storyteller, not an author, but when I read one of her books, I’m very entertained and hate to put the book down until I’ve finished it. I’ve read some of hers more than once (I think Twilight is her best). It’s not porn, it’s 100% clean fun. I can’t say the same of The Hunger Games, which is putting even more violence into our already violent childrens’ heads and as for King, I’ve tried but can’t read his stuff, I just don’t like it. He may be technically a good writer, but I can’t stand the stories. To each his own.
