SuperbadOf the three major releases opening last Friday, only one managed to break into the top five at the North American weekend box office. Mr. Bean’s Holiday debuted at No. 4 with $10.12 million (all figures US). Another major weekend release, The Nanny Diaries starring Scarlett Johansson, debuted at No. 6, taking in a paltry $7.8 million. Superbad led the way again, retaining first place with receipts totaling $18 million for a total gross of $68.6 million. Rush Hour 3 dropped to third place, taking in $12.2 million and passing the $100 million mark, while The Bourne Ultimatum made the rare move of climbing up a spot to second with $12.4 million, making its domestic total to date $185 million. Rounding out the top five was War, a new release starring Jet Li and Jason Statham, taking in $10 million on its opening weekend.
