Superman costume to be auctioned off

superman_costumeA Superman costume worn by the late Christopher Reeve is scheduled to be auctioned off this month. It’s estimated to go for between $11,000 to $15,000 (all figures US). The costume will be part of the Bonhams and Goodman Collectables auction on Sunday May 24th at the Australian auction house’s Melbourne salerooms. The costume is described as “a leotard featuring the unmistakable red and yellow ‘S’ logo, a pair of red polyamid trunks and yellow vinyl belt,” noting that “this leotard was used to film flying scenes. Wires were inserted through the slits at the thigh in order to raise Christopher Reeve into the air.” The item comes with a certificate of authenticity from The Prop Store of London. Also being auctioned is a crew jacket from Superman II and a program for the premiere of Superman owned and autographed by Executive Producer Ilya Salkind.

well, Nancy, rumour has it you’ll be wearing this at your Birthday Party….

make sure you take lots of photos!!!

(gentle suggestion…don’t go with your trademark leopard stilettos with this one…over the top)

You Jo-Anne, are the only hoochie who wears “leopard STILLETOUES”. You cougar! I bet you live near that old Hamilton “meat market” that Anon/Gina spoke of, LMFAO! Sounds like you’re jealous of my birthday too….jealous that I’m still young enough to count ’em? Jealous because I could fit into this suit and you can’t? That’s what it sounds like…

I did happen to notice something on this website though in the past week or so…Jo-Anne was not commenting, Anon/Gina was not commenting, demigod was not commenting, Max Powers was not commenting and the rude one who never uses their original Tribute name was not commenting. Then, all of a sudden, they ALL made comments on here…all on the same day, within a very short time frame. Hmmmmm…..

not only do I think you could fit into this suit (undoubtedly the top part would require immense padding)…my assumption is it would be the most worn article of clothing in your closet…that, and your coveted hand mirror…

  6. Nancy • May 16, 2009 @ 6:59 PM

Nope, unfortunately no padding would be required and the most worn clothing in my closet are my very comfy jeans and tees, if you MUST know. I know you’re so anxious to learn everything you can about me but I do have to set boundaries as you cannot be trusted to keep your distance.

Mars would be about the closest I would wish to be to you, sorry to burst your bubble…

Still too close for comfort, Jo Jo!

So are the funds from the sale going to anything beneficial. Christopher Reeves really supported the Spinal Cord research (obviously, we all know that). Hopefully proceeds will support a beneficial cause. It doesn’t say, but I think it is important if they are going to “advertise” they should say what the funds are going towards.

RIP Christopher Reeves…your life was a blessing for this planet.
Jo and Nancy, you bicker like an old married couple only way funnier. I kinda feel like I’m trapped in an old sitcom like “Married With Children” when you two get going.
