Suri Cruise enrolled in Catholic school

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 15, 2009 | 22 Comments

Tom Cruise, Suri and KatieSuri Cruise, the three-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has been enrolled in a Catholic pre-school while her dad is filming the action/comedy Wichita in Boston. Holmes grew up in the Catholic faith, and although she and Cruise are now devout Scientologists, they apparently came to the mutual decision that their daughter would attend the school. A source close to the Cruise family says: “There is no rift between Tom and Katie over this. As is often the case, children of different faiths are sent to schools run by one religious denomination or another. Plenty of non-Catholics send their children to Catholic schools-simply because they think they will get a better education there.”

they’re sending her in to make scientologists outta everyone. freaky.

why is that child constantly paraded out in front of the public. I have never witnessed parents who want their child front and center in the news all the time like Tom and Katie…..or should I say Tom and his Stepford wife. A catholic school, wow, don’t scientologists have schools for their little robot children??
And while I’m on my soapbox, can I just ask….why would the Cruises be spending millions of dollars for Suri’s wardrobe when children all over the world are starving????
    Boggles the mind!

While I agree that it would be better if they spent that money on starving children, the fact remains that it is their money to do what they want with, and the starving children are not their responsibility. But it would make them look a little better in the public eye if they would donate to things like that.
I think they are constantly parading her in public, because they are already moulding her for a future under the spotlight.

    and tribute girl

i think the reason they are parading her around in the public eye is because they got so tired of all the rumors surrounding her and her possibly being “deformed” or “made up” when they refused to show her off when she was a new born. every year she looks more and more like her mother, so there cant be any speculation about if she is theirs for real or not. imagine what the people that speculated about her when she was “in hiding” in the beginning would say if she all of a sudden disappeared from the public eye now?

ps, i hope this post made sense lol.

It made sense, all I remember from Suri’s early days is they kept her in hiding because they wanted her immersed in silence for a certain amount of time, but it wasn’t long before they had her out in the public, and it seems like every time you turn around, there she is again.

I am so surprised he is allowing her to go to Catholic School. He is not open minded about any religion other than his precious scientology. And what about his other 2 kids that he adopted with Nicole Kidman? He never paraded them around like this, and before anyone says it, it should not matter that they are adopted. It’s almost like he only has one child.

she looks creepy like her mom

I’m not understanding why the comments are negative because of parents’ choice of school for their child. Isn’t that an inherent right of any parent? So, if they choose to send her to Scientology Classes would that be a choice garnering positive feedback? Or is it just the mere mention of his name, regardless of context, that evokes negativity…somehow I feel that’s the case…

also, question – how is Suri being “paraded” constantly in public?

  9. Carol • October 18, 2009 @ 6:29 PM

Suri has spent a lot of her young life in the public eye…don’t you read Tribute at all?
I wouldn’t say it is necessarily negative comments we have here. I think because he is so strong in his scientology that it is hard for people to imagine him allowing any other religion near his child. He does not like questions being asked and the scientology way is the only way. What if Suri starts asking questions and swaying from what he thinks is right? If you have ever heard Tom talk about his religion and how defensive he gets, then you would realize why we are all somewhat amazed he “permitted” this to happen.

Probably the school he wanted to send her to had a sofa in the registration office. I think you get my point…

  11. Jo-Anne • October 18, 2009 @ 7:10 PM

yes, I read Tribute (assumed that was obvious) pleasant as always…

my comment was directed at the “paraded” remark. Almost ANY celebrity or children attached to celebrities are “in the public eye”. I was simply asking why people feel she is “paraded” as a few here used this same term – I disagree that they are doing such.

Words – “freaky”, “run by Satan”, “Tom’s Stepford wife”…almost in every post here -yes, I do consider negative, carol. How would you attribute a postive feel to them?

I don’t care that people feel negative towards Tom, that’s their choice to like or dislike whomever, I’m just stating why I feel the negativity is there with this article.

I would be interested what exactly the Cruises, as parents, have done to be accused of “parading” Suri around?

  12. mandee • October 18, 2009 @ 7:17 PM

i wasnt accusing them of parading her around, i was commenting on people that said she was being paraded around. and when i said the school run by satan comment, it was because i disagree with toms religion, has nothing to do with suri whatsoever. i think toms choice of religion is terrible and the fact that he forced it on katie and suri is unbelievable. i was merely stating that i was surprised she wouldnt be in a scientology school (thats what i meant by school run by satan).

  13. Jo-Anne • October 18, 2009 @ 8:36 PM

and my remark wasn’t directed solely at you mandee, nor was it intended to force anyone into feeling defensive. I was just wondering what prompted the parade remarks, no biggie, just a simple question. I was interested in knowing what the Cruise parents did different (and, incidentally am still wondering…) than other celebrity parents to be accused of parading their child, what constituted as parading?

re the article, I am feeling their choice of schooling was personal and done with their daughter’s best interests in mind, and that’s as far as my comment went, their faith wasn’t part of my comment.

  14. mandee • October 18, 2009 @ 9:31 PM

i wasnt defending my parading comment, i was defending my “satan” comment that you seemed to find so “negative”. i knew what you were talking about, i also knew it wasnt solely directed at me, but i felt i had to defend my right to call his religion satan-ism.

  15. Carol • October 23, 2009 @ 9:55 PM

jowanne, incidently you are still wondering…man, you are slow.

  16. Nancy • October 23, 2009 @ 11:20 PM
