Tampa Rays apologize for Avril Lavigne’s foul mouth

Avril Lavigne showed off her trucker mouth during an after game concert for the Tampa Bays baseball team at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday. She reportedly swore her face off when the crowd booed her because her microphone didn’t work during the performance. After the incident, announcer Rusty Kathy apologized for Avril’s foul mouth, telling the crowd of more than 24,0000, “That’s not what the Tampa Bay Rays are about.” Yesterday, the Rays’ spokesperson Rick Vaughn also issued an apology, saying, “The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night’s show. It is not consistent with the family friendly atmosphere that Tropicana Field is known for.” For her part, the Canadian singer didn’t comment on the proceedings, other than to tweet prior to the game: “I just threw the opening pitch and [will be] playing a concert after the game! Fun :).”

It’s sad how she used to be popular before she got married and went through that girly girl transformation. But now, years after her divorce she seems to be selling out by trying to go back to that style which made her famous. Sorry Avril, if you don’t know who you are, neither do we.

Aren’t her 15 minutes of fame up yet? Enough with the low-class swearing and spitting… you’re embarrassing yourself, your family and your hometown.

She got older but never really grew up, she’s getting worst I think. My kids like her music but her new single is pretty crude for my 6 year old even if the beat is good. Why go there? The song would have been as good without the swearing.

@ Germain :: I agree with you. People need to understand that the lyrics of a song are a LOT more important than the beat when trying to determine whether it’s appropriate or not.

I think that’s unprofessional of her, even if they did booo-urns. She’s been around long enough that she should have shrugged it off. They should have been the ones that are just idiots, she didn’t have to compound it. Anyone remember Ashley Simpson on SNL when she did the jig because of the limpsync machine was off lol… That’s maybe how Avril should have handled it.
