Tara Strong fired from TV series for Israel-Palestine tweets

Tara Strong has been released from the indie animated series Boxtown after she liked a Twitter (now known as “X”) post that read, “Islam is a real, clear and present danger.”

On October 10, she posted: “For those who support the actions of #Hamas; when they infiltrate your home town, on your soil, break into Jewish homes, raping, beheading innocent babies, will you applaud them? Will you wave their flag while they slaughter Christians & Muslims who don’t believe their ideologies?”

Tara learned that she was to be recast when the news was posted via X by BoxtownOfficial on October 12. The post read: “Hello all! Just wanted to offer a quick update on Boxtown. We will be recasting the role of Bill (previously played by Tara Strong). We’ll have more info soon on open auditions. Thanks for y’all’s understanding as we re-orient and figure out the next steps.”

The announcement was met with outrage from fans, who slammed the show for cutting ties with the popular actress.

Tara replied to the post, saying, “Just found out on twitter! This is what happens when you help fans get shows made I guess. Fired for being Jewish. Glad I helped you get your kickstarter money. Please lose my email address & pray for my family in Israel and in Gaza & #prayforpeace.”

She added, “I’m speaking about the terrorist org HAMAS. We should all be against them.”

A legend in the voiceover world, Tara made her professional debut as a child actor, appearing on Canadian shows such as The Campbells and Street Legal. By age 13 she was doing voiceover work on the animated series Hello Kitty. She now resides in Los Angeles, where she’s an incredibly in-demand actor, having worked on over 20 projects this year alone. She currently provides the voice of Miss Minutes on the Marvel series Loki, and has also provided voices for the feature films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Sing 2, as well as series such as DC Super Hero Girls, The Powerpuff Girls, Gabby’s Dollhouse and The Loud House. ~Alexandra Heilbron
