The new comedy Ted starring Mark Wahlberg took over the top spot at the weekend box office, debuting to $54.4 million. That breaks the record previously held by The Hangover for the best first weekend for an original R-rated comedy. Tribute.ca users enjoyed it, giving it 4.25 stars out of 5. Magic Mike starring Channing Tatum debuted in fewer theaters, but grossed an impressive $39.1 million and 3.3 stars at Tribute.ca. Last weekend’s top movie, the animated family film Brave, dropped two spots to third, earning an additional $34.1 million. Tribute.ca users gave it a high 4.2 star rating. In fourth place was Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection, taking in $25.4 million and earning a perfect 5 stars. Rounding out the top five was Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, earning $11.8 million in its fourth weekend out of the gate and 3 stars.

Not sure how accurate this is, considering neither Ted nor The Hangover were rated R in Canada.
