Teen blames DUI on Twilight Breaking Dawn

By Alexandra Heilbron on November 24, 2011 | 23 Comments

Olivia Christina Ornelas, 18, of Aurora, Illinois, was charged with drunken driving and underage drinking when she drove a car into a ditch at 12:04 last Saturday morning. The car she was driving had no front tire. She told police she was upset with her boyfriend because they were supposed to go see the new Twilight movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1, which had just opened in theaters, but he wound up not taking her after all. Ornelas was later released after posting $300 bail.

  3. fubby • November 24, 2011 @ 8:36 AM

This has nothing to do with her being a Twilight fan. She was being an idiot for driving under the influence.

Duh…if planes can fly with only 3 of their 4 engines working, surely a car should be able to run on 3 of its 4 tires, no ? This is your brain on alcohol !

  5. jjjones • November 24, 2011 @ 10:55 AM

And how is this the movie’s fault?

I agree… as a Mom, I am extremely concerned about my children growing up in today’s society. There are so many things that are the complete opposite as to when I was growing up. Even as a “wild child” in my time, there were still limits to what I would and would not do; nowadays, it’s like a free-for-all and something as ridiculous as blaming a missed movie for DUI actually happens.

I agree this was a dumb thing to do.

However, parents have been talking about “kids these days” since time began.

that is such crap blaming a movie for your own stupidity. that is as dumb as saying the devil made me do it, or I was cursed by a witch LOL stupid, stupid people.

  12. Nickym • November 24, 2011 @ 9:45 PM

This shouldn’t even be in the Tribute as it has nothing to do with the movie! So she said the movie’s title this isn’t even news worthy. Writers get better topics, and it doesn’t have to be tragic it can be a feel good story.

The blame game again? She’ll make a fine politician dont’cha think? lol

  14. mitch • November 24, 2011 @ 10:34 PM

I guess watching this movie will drive you to drink…

  15. My Opinion • November 24, 2011 @ 10:39 PM

She was driving drunk, had an accident and got out with only $300 bail. Whoever let her off so easily should be arrested and charged with stupidity and ignorance. She`s very lucky she didn`t kill someone while driving drunk.

When is the system going to wake up and charge these drunk drivers hard. At the very least she should have had her license revoked for at least 1 year if its her first offence and no one got hurt. If someone had gotten hurt then they should lose their license for life and face criminal charges. And I don`t care how old they are. If your old enough to have a license then your old enough to be charge with criminal negligence.

I`m sure every parent or family member who lost someone they loved because of a drunk driver will agree that its time the law wake up and hit these drunk drivers hard

Wow what an idiot ! You cant blame the movie for drunk driving. My bf never took me to any of the Twilight movies and I survived. Simply solution go watch it with your girlfriends and dont blame a movie for your stupid actions !!!! You can always watch it with your bf when its out on dvd…..wow this generation!! UGHHHHH

  17. Nobody Important • November 25, 2011 @ 2:21 AM

I don’t mean to stereotype, but her behaviour does seem atypical of your averge twilight fan – an emotional wreck devoid of logic.

  18. ugh • November 25, 2011 @ 2:58 AM

Eli & Lucky said it right. I tell you, I did some wild and ridiculous stuff growing up too but what is up with kids THESE days?? This girl is just a moron!

  19. hahhahahaha • November 25, 2011 @ 4:08 AM

hahahaahahhahaaahahahahhaahaaahahahahahaha…EPIC FAIL…I hope this bans any future twilight movie to be released in canada..and not because of this but because it sucks balls and her boyfriend was right to refuse to go with her to twilight..I applaud this man..he deserves a nobel peace prize for his courageous decision

  20. Trevor • November 25, 2011 @ 11:53 AM

Twilight fans are so stupid! Haha! That is what they get for watching, reading, and supporting such garbage. Oh and that Kristen Stewart is such a pig…all doped up and whorey looking.

  21. So what • November 25, 2011 @ 1:25 PM

Why are people blaming the movie twilight or the fans that love this movie for this girls reckless behavior. Granted its not an oscar winning movie but its an entertaining movie in which millions of people seem to enjoy. She could have easily blamed another movie or anything else for that matter but the real point here is that she should GROW UP.

If your too upset or drunk to drive then don’t get behind the wheel of a car. The ONLY real excuse here is that, first she was DRUNK and shouldn’t have been driving at all. And second, she should take responsibility for her own actions and not blame it on a movie or boyfriend or anything else. So next time she gets upset at her boyfriend and gets drunk…TAKE A TAXI.

    1. “drunken driving” or drunk driving? Seems whoever wrote this had a few themselves.
    2. Since when is driving into a ditch news-worthy? How many cars do you see on the side of the road on your way to work or school?
    3. At first I was tryin to figure out why she was going to see a movie in the morning, but then noticed she ditch-dived just after midnight. I’m guessing she was trying to see the first screening. [No wonder her boyfriend backed out. Who’s goes out of his way to see a crappy movie – even be female standards – on a Friday night? Though, in retrospect, he could’ve gone, preventing the accendent and probably getting some ‘favors’ a lil later on.
    4. $300 – plus whatever she drank, maybe $15 bucks for some peach Schnapps – seems a little expensive for Twilight. I REALLY don’t get the hype.
This Olivia girl sounds like she idolizes Bella, crying endlessly, losing control of vehicles and throwing caution into the ditch.

Stupid American movie with stupid American actors. No wonder you country sucks and is goo to hell. Dumb, racist Republicans out to terrorize the world. Destroying everything and family value too. So is the world of Twilight. Keep shopping at Walmart you dummies.
