Meryl Streep, who won a Golden Globe this year for her performance as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher also picked up the Best Actress BAFTA award, so it’s starting to look like she may be headed to Oscar victory as well. Other Golden Globe winners who also won BAFTA awards were Christopher Plummer — who at 84 is the oldest BAFTA award winner ever — for Beginners and Octavia Spencer for her supporting role in The Help. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy won Outstanding British Film, while Tyrannosaur, an independent drama about domestic violence, picked up the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
