The Expendables 2 tops weekend box office

By Tribute on August 20, 2012 | 1 Comment

This weekend’s biggest hit was the action-packed The Expendables 2, raking in a whopping $28.8 million in its opening weekend. It was a hit with Tribute.ca users too, who gave it 4.2 out of a possible 5 stars. It just goes to show that much like a fine wine, action heroes only get better with age thanks to a cast including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Falling to second from a first-place finish last weekend was The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz, adding another $17 million to bring its total to $69.6 million after only two weeks in theaters. Tribute.ca users gave it 3.9 stars. The animated film ParaNorman debuted in third with $14 million and 3.5 stars, leaving last week’s second place film, The Campaign and newcomer Sparkle to round out the top five, earning $13.4 million and $12 million respectively. It seems Tribute.ca users enjoyed Sparkle just a little bit more — they gave it an impressive 4.2 stars while The Campaign sits at 3.9 stars. ~Morgan Bates

I soooo need to catch up. Gotta watch Bourne and now Expendables! I thought the first was was decent, I hope this one goes over and above and a rare sequel that’s better than the first.
