The Fate of the Furious is faster than ever in official trailer

The Fate of the Furious, the sequel formerly known as Fast 8, has offered up a first real glimpse of the newest high-octane adventures of Vin Diesel and company. And while it’s the first official installment without Paul Walker, it’s still just as fast and furious as ever.

Never one for subtlety, the non-stop trailer starts off with the team (Diesel, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, and Tyrese Gibson) in an epic car chase that ends with an even more epic wrecking ball smack down. It’s basically everything you’d want — off-the-wall stunts, narrow escapes, stellar CGI, witty one-liners, and, of course, tricked-out rides.

However, the trailer also lets us know that all is not right in this post-Brian O’Conner universe. Dominic (Diesel), assumed to be in a state of delusional grief, has somehow betrayed his brethren and been recruited to work for a deadly criminal terrorist named Cipher (played by Charlize Theron).

Faced with a new and very dangerous enemy, Letty, Luke, Tej, and Roman must now do everything in their power, including working with a government ops team headed by Frank Petty (Kurt Russell), to stop Dom and his diabolical new boss.

Directed by F. Gary Gray and also starring Jason Statham, The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.~Shelby Morton

The Godfather films have nothing on these high-octane character dramas.
