The Fate of the Furious races to second box office win

The Fate of the Furious takes top spot at the box officeThis weekend’s box office selections saw The Fate of the Furious chase down Disneynature newcomer Born in China to take the top spot yet again.

Dom (Vin Diesel) forsakes the family in this high-octane eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, which took in $38.4 million in its second weekend in top spot. With a gross earnings of $163.6 million and a 4.3 star rating from our users, it seems The Fate of the Furious shows no signs of slowing down.

The Boss Baby remains in second spot in its fourth week of release. The animated film about a business-minded baby voiced by Alec Baldwin earned $12.7 million this past weekend, making its current gross a hefty $137 million. Our users give it a pacifying 2.9 stars out of 5.

Third place at the weekend box office belongs to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which is still enchanting audiences across North America. In the top five in its sixth week, the film pulled in an additional $9.7 million, making its gross earnings an incredible $471.1 million. Our users sing its praises with a 3.5 out of 5 star rating.

In fourth was the Zach Braff-directed comedy Going In StyleThe film about a set of retirees out for revenge took in $4.9 million in its third weekend giving it a current gross of $31.8 million. Sure to guarantee laughs, it has a stellar rating of 4.7 stars from our users.

Rounding out the top five in its opening weekend is another Disney creation, Disneynature’s Born in China, which features the story of three animal families. The film opened this weekend to the tune of $4.8 million and is gaining “awws” from audiences and our users alike, who have given the film a 4.2 star rating.
