The Legend of Tarzan’s second trailer swings onto the web

Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle hero swooped into action as the second trailer for the upcoming The Legend of Tarzan hit the web today.

The trailer sheds light on the King of the Jungle’s childhood years and explains why he was left alone in the wild amongst a troop of gorillas. With intensity and marvel, it then launches into a story of love, revenge and heated battle, featuring awe-inspiring shots that pit man against animal.

Dozens of films have been adapted from Rice Burroughs’ original 1912 novel Tarzan of the Apes but this one begins with an adult, slightly less feral version of Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård), who has taken on a more gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke in London. However, when he’s invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, along with his wife Jane (Margot Robbie), a calculated plan is revealed that plays him as a pawn. The mastermind behind the scheme is Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz), who is unaware of the fury Tarzan can unleash.

The film hits theaters July 1, 2016 and co-stars Djimon Hounsou and Samuel L. Jackson. It’s directed by David Yates, who’s best known for his Harry Potter work and will reenter the wizarding world with his upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set for a November 18, 2016 release. ~Matthew Pariselli
