Third weekend at top of box office for Hunger Games

The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, continued its box office success for the third straight weekend, hauling in an additional $33.5 million for a three-week total of over $300 million in North America alone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this sets a box office record as the fastest non-summer and non-sequel movie to break $300 million, having done it in 17 days. Tribute viewers rate the movie 3.6 stars out of 5. The American Pie sequel American Reunion wound up in second place, earning an estimated $21.5 million and 4 out of 5 stars from Tribute viewers. The Titanic re-release in 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet earned $17.4 million in its debut weekend at the box office, with Tribute viewers rating it 4 1/2 stars. That raises the lifetime domestic gross of James Cameron’s 1997 hit to $626.5 million. Wrath of the Titans dropped to fourth place, bringing in an additional $15 million and garnering just under 4 stars. The Snow White comedy Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts rounded out the top five with $11 million and 3 1/2 stars.
