Thomas Jane was teenage gay hooker

The Punisher star Thomas Jane, who currently plays high school teacher Ray Drecker on the HBO series Hung, recently admitted to the Los Angeles Times that when he first arrived in L.A. as a teen, he performed sexual favors for men in exchange for money and food. He told the paper: “Hey, you grow up as an artist in a big city, as James Dean said, you’re going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don’t accept people’s sexual flavors. You know, when I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless, I didn’t have any money and I was living in my car. I was 18. I wasn’t averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?” Jane, who divorced second wife, Medium star Patricia Arquette in July, says the experience forced him to face his prejudices, explaining: “You’re a lot more open to experimentation as a young man. And for me, being a young artist and broke in Los Angeles, I was exploring my sexual identity. And probably because of my middle-class, white blue-collar upbringing, I would have never had the opportunity to confront some of my own fears and prejudices had I not been hungry enough to be forced to challenge myself in that way….It blew the doors off of my conventional upbringing and thinking and opened up possibilities for me that were akin to World War III. And then you actually have a choice, and I chose to be a heterosexual guy because that’s what my DNA dictates and my nurture dictates that I am.”

Guess you have to do whatever it takes to survive.Least you can say been there done that, now I have made my choice without prejudice, as I have experienced both. Good decision in the end.

“Until youve tasted the food, you dont know whether youll like it or not, as my mom always said.”

I really doubt his mother was telling him to try gay sex. I’m not surprised he’s divorced. If I found out my boyfriend had tried gay sex, that would totally turn me off.

Haha… look at the photo. Maybe it’s time he re-evaluated his sexuality, once more, so he can afford some shoes.

Hey Janice, wow! You know what I wonder, what if you were raped by your father or by some other guy; and you decided never to tell your husband until 10 years after your marriage. Do you think it would be wise for him to leave you or stick around and support you? You are one ignorant… not even going to finish that sentence because I think you know what you are without me having to tell you. Women always want men to stick around and fight a good fight when something bad has happened in their life, but whenever something has happened to a guy like what Thomas went through, women think it’s their fault for making that decision. Whereas when society tries to say “hey it was the woman who decided to dress the way she did to provoke someone”…women turn around and say it’s not their fault. so it’s okay for men to get blamed and for their wives to leave them but it’s not okay if a man leaves his wife just because she was raped or was a stripper and had sex with men as a teenager just to make her way. Yeah, okay. I totally understand how society works now, thanks Janice.

And Janice, if anything ever does happen to you where it involves a guy taking advantage of you where you don’t want him; I hope your boyfriend finds out and leaves you just the way you would leave him. I realize the situations are different, but if you aren’t willing to support what he may have gone through, I don’t see why he should be much of a man to stick around when you aren’t willing to be much of a woman yourself.

You know what, NYTOC? The fact that you can compare rape to someone trying gay sex shows your ignorance. You said it – “a guy taking advantage of you.” That doesn’t equate Thomas Jane offering sex in exchange for a sandwich and it says a lot about you that you could even go there in trying to justify what he did. If he’d been raped by a guy, that would be a totally different situation and he would have my sympathy entirely. He offered himself. That’s not rape. No sympathy asked for and none required.

Crazy…i guess it’s easy to judge given we have not been put in this situation that Thomas Jane had dealt with coming to a big city with nothing on his back. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Btw i think he’s just delicious..wink*

Why didn’t he just get an actual job? He was old enough to work as a waiter, or any number of jobs. He didn’t have to be a gay prostitute. He must have been inclined that way to begin with.

Janice on October 5, 2011 10:22 AM people sexual experimentation should never be up for ridicule. if this is what it took for him to LIVE in a life where he would have otherwise starved to DEATH then so be it. and if he chose to try gay sex, whats the harm? i wonder if the real reason you would be so "turned off" would be because you would know he has had more male lovers than you? your comments astound me in a world where so many people are gay and you still have no tolerance for other people personal decisions. i really hope if you have any children one of them is gay 🙂 then you will learn how to love someone and respect them based on something less superficial than who they have or have not had sex with.
