For the second week in a row Thor: The Dark World, starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, maintained the number one spot at the weekend box office. The sequel brought in $38.45 million, bringing the total gross earnings to a solid $146.97 million. Although dropping more than half a point, the film received a Tribute rating of 4.2 stars. Debuting in second place was The Best Man Holiday starring Morris Chestnut and Taye Diggs. The film earned $30.59 million and gained a Tribute rating of 3.9 stars. Rising to third place was the hilarious comedy Last Vegas. Starring Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline, the film earned $8.87 million and received a Tribute rating of 4.2 stars. In fourth was the Thanksgiving feature Free Birds, which generated $8.3 million at the box office and earned a 3.7 star Tribute rating. Dropping to fifth place was Paramount’s Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, which earned an additional $7.67 million and a Tribute rating of 3.7 stars.
Rounding out the top ten are: Gravity, Ender’s Game, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, and About Time. ~Brie Davis
