Tiger Woods apologizes to friends and fans

At 11:00 ET this morning, Tiger Woods broke the silence he’s maintained since crashing his car in his driveway last November. During a 14-minute speech made before a small group of friends, colleagues, close associates and reporters, he admitted to marital infidelity, saying, “I am deeply sorry for the irresponsible and selfish behavior I engaged in.” He also said he wanted to be clear that despite rumors, his wife did not attack him on the night of the car crash, or at any other time. “For all that I have done, I am so sorry. I have a lot to atone for, but there’s one issue I really want to discuss. Some people have speculated that Elin somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It hurts me that people would fabricate a story like that. Elin has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elin deserves praise, not blame. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable.” Woods confirmed that he will return to golf, but doesn’t have a set date, saying, “When I return, I need to make my behaviour more respectful for the game.” He said he has been receiving therapy for 45 days, and will be returning tomorrow for more treatment and more therapy. Watch a portion of the apology below.

Tiger Woods is living the life! He is a great example of an international playboy and something we all men should aspire too. This is something the media has blown out of proportion in order to vilify him…plain and simple. People are just jealous of his wealth, talent, and the gorgeous women that surround him.

This is never going to end! Apparently he’s the only person on the entire face of the plant earth to ever cheat on a partner or spouse. What a precedent! I hope no one else picks up on this and starts to copy his behaviour.

Enough. Men cheat. Women cheat. Do I think its okay, no of course not. But why are people and media hanging this guy. I could care less. The fact that Im even commenting now tires me out and isn’t worth my energy.

    Give me a break.

” Elin deserves praise, not blame.”
    Who’s blaming her???

“I need to make my behaviour more respectful for the game.”
Or perhaps, maybe for your….what’s it called….oh yeah, FAMILY.

They’re both fools thinking they’re going to right this ship..

The fact that she’s even bothering to stay with him is almost as disgusting as what he did to her. she should divorce his sorry ass and take his money. what a loser.

  8. tributegirl • February 20, 2010 @ 9:54 AM

I thought she had left him and was starting divorce procedures?

  9. Two-Face • February 20, 2010 @ 8:50 PM

Maybe he talked her out of it and they’re back together?

‘I need to make my behaviour more respectable for the game’?
The game you play involves you grabbing that solid club and swinging it to get your ball in those small holes in the least amount of strokes possible while everyone cheers you on.
And then there’s the game of golf.
Maybe his infidelity was what made him a great golfer.
    Only time will tell.

    LMAO, Mr. Thornton!

So did I TG. Renegotiate the prenup and keep the charade going?

  13. Carol • February 21, 2010 @ 9:43 AM

Sorry Tiger I have to give you credit for standing up and giving that speach BUT now you have to prove that everything you said came from the heart. We think you only did it TO GET IT OVER WITH and so YOU can GET ON with YOUR life. We also wonder how much YOU GOT PAID to make that speech. Every woman out here says LET HIS WIFE GO ON TO MEET A REAL MAN – the MAN SHE WILL DESERVE after this. Good Luck Tiger and MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY.

  14. tributegirl • February 21, 2010 @ 9:53 AM

Not sure, dg, I had heard that he was trying to renegotiate, but there were too many strings attached for her (showing up at his events with a smile & pretending everything was ok), and that she had left with the children. But it’s been awhile since I heard that, so who knows?
Carol, true, he made that speech for himself and no one else. As far as the cheating, doesn’t affect my life, that’s his choice, one many people make, but all this b.s. with the pathetic apology, etc, I don’t like.

  15. Carol • February 21, 2010 @ 8:39 PM

I think it is all a crock. He is not sorry for cheating, he is sorry he got caught. He is sorry his image got tarnished. He is sorry he stands to lose a lot and didn’t have a better (or any) pre-nup, that is all Tiger is sorry for.

  16. ugh • February 22, 2010 @ 1:08 AM

man… my ass could have made a more heartfelt apology.

What’s with these sports giants having to cheat on their extremely attractive wives for someone extremely slutty and easy?

  17. demigod • February 22, 2010 @ 3:01 AM

He’s sorry he ever got married in the first place.

  18. Angela • February 22, 2010 @ 2:58 PM

Not as sorry as Elin is for marrying an immoral pig and having babies with him. If a man wants to put it everywhere, don’t get married. It’s as simple as that. He could’ve left her alone and let her find a decent man and then he could’ve had as many filthy whores as he wanted without anyone caring. I just hope he didn’t give her a venereal disease, in addition to the babies.

  19. Nancy • February 22, 2010 @ 7:56 PM

    Totally agree, Angela.

  20. Dan • February 23, 2010 @ 2:53 AM

Why is Tiger such a god? He owns at golf, gets all the women. Definatly an inspiration!

  21. Jo-Anne • February 23, 2010 @ 3:55 PM

He is a God only to those men who obviously aren’t “scoring” in real life in any “sport”…

to many others, he’s nothing but an blemished golfer who lacks integrity…

  22. Dan • February 23, 2010 @ 11:26 PM

Well as a pastey skinny white kid with glasses and bad acne I seriously enjoyed this story. Its inspirational. /b/
