Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash

By Alexandra Heilbron on November 27, 2009 | 28 Comments

tiger_woodsTiger Woods, 33, was seriously injured in a car accident this morning at his Florida home.  According to Florida Highway Patrol, Woods pulled out of his driveway at approximately 2:25 a.m. when his 2009 black Cadillac Escalade hit a fire hydrant, then a tree on his neighbor’s property.  According to police reports, his wife Elin heard the crash from inside their house and broke the back window of the SUV with a golf club to get him out. When police arrived, he was on the ground, going in and out of consciousness. When paramedics arrived, they worked on Woods for 10 to 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived to take him to Health Central Hospital, where he was treated for facial lacerations and released several hours later. Police are investigating the crash, but say there was no alcohol involved and that the car’s airbags did not deploy. It is not known whether the golfer was wearing a seatbelt. ~Alexandra Heilbron

I would hate to see the headline if he died, this is stupid, so he hit a ple and had some cuts, this made it sound like he was dead…

  2. Nancy • November 27, 2009 @ 5:50 PM

“seriously injured” doesn’t sound like “dead” to me. Weird that the airbags didn’t deploy though. I hope they tested him for drugs.

The airbags didn’t deploy because he was driving 30mph, he probably had an animal run out infront of his car and he swerved to get out of the way. No way Tiger is on drugs the PGA Tour tests for that and he would be the first guy tested…The bigger question is why is this news on Tribute.ca website? Last time I checked Tiger hasn’t been in any movies….

Other news stories tell that Tiger had a huge fight with his wife, prior to the accident.

Johnny: Susan Boyle hasn’t been in any movies lately either, and no one complains when there’s a story about her…. oh, and what movies has Adam Lambert been in? I don’t think Tribute limits their stories to movie stars, but to celebrities and everyone knows who Tiger Woods is, whether he’s been in a movie or not.

Drugs? An animal? lol How about an ACCIDENT. It was dark out..

  7. Nancy • November 28, 2009 @ 1:50 AM

It was 2:25 AM, weird time for such an athlete to be out and about. I know he was supposedly not going fast enough for the airbags to deploy but, then explain all the facial lacerations. Supposedly….he’s been having an affair. Maybe he and his wife were having a fight…??

Demigod: “How about an ACCIDENT. It was dark out..” That’s why they put lights on the front of those things that have 4 wheels.

  8. demigod • November 28, 2009 @ 5:24 AM

Holy. Yea,VERY weird stepping out late! He has A LIFE. You saying now the lacerations were from a fight?lol
Hitting a fire hydrant even at 25mph is enough to jolt you pretty good, so much so you’d bounce off and hit something else. Things are still harder to see at nighttime!(only you would need this explained). I just thought it was funny that you’d suggest ‘drugs’ in explaining a very common and likely innocent accident.
Now you bring up another possibility of a fight/cheating lol. It’s still an ACCIDENT.

how close does he live to the neighbors to end up on their lawn? It’s very early, could all be just coincodence, but it does sound like there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Who Cares?? That guy is so ignorant he won’t even promote himself unless there are big bucks shelled out. He is in LOVE with HIMSELF so having an affair is not hard to believe. Maybe now he will come down back to earth and realize he has made plenty of money to retire. There are others who are just as talented without big egos!!

Sounds like a really strange accident, my first thought after reading the article was maybe he had a previously undetected medical condition, maybe lost consciousness just BEFORE the accident. I’ve seen people who have had a heart attack while driving. I think I thought this because it seems to be a very strange accident, I don’t think being upset from a fight, or darkness or anything would have much to do with it, he obviously knows his own neighbourhood, and struck a hydrant AND a tree?

  12. Carol • November 28, 2009 @ 3:54 PM

I agree tg, there’s more to this story than we know.

  13. Nancy • November 28, 2009 @ 4:52 PM

Demigod: I ONLY brought up drugs because it was mentioned in the article that police said “there was no alcohol involved”. Alcohol can be smelled if the effects are not seen…unlike drugs “(only you would need this explained)”. Yes, it is questionable when someone steps out at that hour and has such a weird “ACCIDENT”.

“Now you bring up another possibility of a fight/cheating lol. It’s still an ACCIDENT.” – Time to read the newest article/news and make room in your big yap for another one of your feet! LMFAO…yet again!

  14. tributegirl • November 28, 2009 @ 5:35 PM

And now we know the rest of the story. Well, not quite.

  15. demigod • November 28, 2009 @ 7:20 PM

Just about 99% of all car accidents don’t involve alcohol/drugs, ditz. He lived in a gated community, which many don’t have sufficient street lights. All it can take is a little distraction/inattentiveness, and a sharp turn to hit something.

  16. demigod • November 28, 2009 @ 7:24 PM

yea, time to read the news/article.. where the first one stated the injuries were suffered due to the crash. And YOU had room for ‘drugs’.

  17. Nancy • November 29, 2009 @ 12:58 AM

First of all, “ditz”, I wouldn’t go as far as saying “Just about 99% of all car accidents don’t involve alcohol/drugs” – You don’t have any clue about those kind of #’s, “ditz”.

Secondly, “He lived in a gated community, which many don’t have sufficient street lights.” – Another thing you have no clue about…the lighting in gated communities. Besides, there are headlights on vehicles, “ditz” and people drive in areas that have NO lighting without hitting anything, only using their headlights.

Third, “All it can take is a little distraction/inattentiveness, and a sharp turn to hit something.” – DUH! Although I’ve never had a car accident, I do know how it works!

As for me mentioning “drugs”, so what? It was a possibility. If alcohol was considered then I’m sure I’m not the only one who considered drugs, “ditz”. It was a suspicious incident right from the beginning, even for people like me, who weren’t even there. An “ACCIDENT”! Yeah right! Stop being such a “ditz”. I thought you said you were smarter than me?

    Not far..MAYBE 98%..from fender-benders to 6-car pile-ups.
Check out the affluent parts of cities/towns. They don’t have the same bylaws/zoning laws as regular neighbourhoods (due to less traffic). Lawrence Park in TO comes to mind. Take a drive along the Bridle Path (it’s accessible). Very few streetlights.

If you think getting out of the house late at night ‘suspicious’, you must lead a very sheltered life. lol. That’s right, an ACCIDENT. He didn’t hit the fire hydrant on purpose ditz.

  19. Nancy • November 30, 2009 @ 1:30 AM

As I said, “ditz”, people drive in many areas with NO streetlights and don’t pile into things! I saw his neighbourhood on tv when they showed the damages, it was fairy lit…just as much as my neighbourhood and people don’t hit the fire hydrants and trees around here. Strange “ACCIDENTs” in the wee hours of the morning, are almost always suspicious…especially if the cops can’t smell any alcohol “(only you would need this explained)”. What a “ditz”!

  20. tributegirl • November 30, 2009 @ 7:58 PM

    Oh my God.

  21. Nancy • December 1, 2009 @ 9:35 AM

    Tributegirl: It’s like having 20 – 2 year olds…all at once! LMFAO!!

  22. demigod • December 1, 2009 @ 11:30 AM

A 2 yr old has an excuse. What’s your’s? hehe

  23. Nancy • December 1, 2009 @ 5:03 PM

Mine?!!!! Hahahahaha. Do you even know anything about driving a motorized vehicle? Oh, let me rephrase that…do you know anything about driving a motorized vehicle after dusk? Or do you just stick to the well lit suburbs and highways? LMAO!

  24. demigod • December 1, 2009 @ 7:27 PM

I’m guessing you’re just as annoying on the road. You’re undoubtedly the type that drives under the speed limit, and a major cause of road rage. I can see you swearing like a trucker out the window and giving the finger as everyone zips past you! haha

  25. Nancy • December 1, 2009 @ 9:14 PM

Doubt it! Btw, I’ve never heard of a person who drives “under the speed limit” having road rage. Just as I thought…you don’t know anything about driving a motorized vehicle!

  26. Two-Face • December 1, 2009 @ 11:42 PM

There is more to this than any of us know. Only Tiger Woods and his wife really know what happened, and we can only guess. But I agree with you Nancy: it is possible that drugs could have been a factor to it.

  27. demigod • December 2, 2009 @ 12:34 AM

Ditz, interpret. YOU would be the cause.

  28. Nancy • December 2, 2009 @ 1:34 AM

“Ditz, interpret.” When YOU say you can see me “swearing like a trucker out the window and giving the finger as everyone zips past”, you’re saying I HAVE road rage…not the cause of…DUH! Holy stup!d!!!
