Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash

Tiger Woods, 33, was seriously injured in a car accident this morning at his Florida home.  According to Florida Highway Patrol, Woods pulled out of his driveway at approximately 2:25 a.m. when his 2009 black Cadillac Escalade hit a fire hydrant, then a tree on his neighbor’s property.  According to police reports, his wife Elin heard the crash from inside their house and broke the back window of the SUV with a golf club to get him out. When police arrived, he was on the ground, going in and out of consciousness. When paramedics arrived, they worked on Woods for 10 to 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived to take him to Health Central Hospital, where he was treated for facial lacerations and released several hours later. Police are investigating the crash, but say there was no alcohol involved and that the car’s airbags did not deploy. It is not known whether the golfer was wearing a seatbelt. ~Alexandra Heilbron
