Tina Fey prefers brief encounters

Tina Fey prefers ”brief” encounters when meeting fellow famous people.
The 45-year-old star had a ”positive” moment with Barbra Streisand when the veteran performer visited her husband James Brolin on the set of their new film Sisters and was relieved it was short as it meant she didn’t get chance to do anything ”stupid.”
She said: ”My move for someone that famous is always that I’m going to have one brief positive interaction and then I get out of there before I do something stupid. So [to Barbra] I was just like, ‘Hi, nice to see you, your husband’s so great.’ And she said, ‘Yeah I know he is.’ ‘OK, we’re not trying to steal him. We’re going to give him back.’ Then I was like, I’ve had a good interaction, I’m going to move it along now.”
Though Tina and her Sisters co-star Amy Poehler have starred together on various projects for over two decades and speak almost every day, they only get to hang out in person when they are working.
Tina told the New York Daily News‘ Confidenti@l column: ”The only time I get to hang out with Amy (in person) is for work stuff. A lot of times they seat us next to each other at the Emmys, which I’m really excited about. The only reason to try to keep making television shows is to get to go to the Emmys together. So yeah, it’s few and far between, so we get very manic and talk very fast when we see each other in person because we always have a lot to catch up on.”
Instead, the two stars are in a group text conversation with fellow former Saturday Night Live cast members Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer, and writers Paula Pell and Emily Spivey.
Tina said: ”We’re in touch, thanks to the magic of group text. All the ‘SNL’ women who were together at the time, we are in touch literally every single day, sharing pictures of our family and relating dumb things that happened to us. So that’s a great support network that we have.”
