Tom Cruise’s son to make film debut

Tom and Connor CruiseConnor Cruise, the adopted son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, will play a small role on the big screen in Will Smith‘s upcoming drama Seven Pounds. Cruise, 13, who has obviously grown up around movie sets, recently spent time down under on the set of Australia, his mom’s new movie. In Seven Pounds, he’ll play the younger version of Smith’s character. Even though he has superstar parents behind him, Connor still apparently had to audition for the role like everyone else. (Nod, nod. Wink, wink.) “Tom is so proud of Connor,” a source tells People, “He’s proud of him for really doing this on his own.” Seven Pounds also stars Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson and is expected to hit theaters December 2008.
