Tom Hank’s insurance broker sent to prison

Tom Hanks’ insurance broker, Jerry Goldman, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after overcharging Tom and his wife Rita Wilson hundreds of thousands of dollars. Between 1998 and 2011, Jerry inflated Tom’s premiums by as much as 600 per cent and created fake invoices to hide his scam. Jerry pleaded guilty in April to mail fraud involving Tom and Rita. Along with his prison sentence, Jerry has also been ordered to pay $840k back to Tom in restitution. Jerry has been the insurance broker to many big name celebrities and at least three of them, including Tom, have been scammed. Back in 2012, Spider-Man 3 writer and director Sam Raimi filed a lawsuit against Jerry with several charges including: fraudulent concealment, professional negligence and unjust enrichment. In the original indictment for Jerry, it claimed that he had also scammed former guitarist for The Police, Andy Summers. ~Brie Davis
