Tom Hanks not a fan of son’s sound

Tom Hanks doesn’t like his son’s music.

The Philadelphia actor admits he isn’t a fan of the lyrics contained in rap music, such as that made by his and wife Rita Wilson’s 24-year-old offspring Chet Haze, who is also known as Chester Hanks.

He said: ”I can’t honestly say I love to hear some of the language in it but that’s not just his stuff, that’s a lot of other people’s as well.”

While he may not be a fan of Chet’s music, Tom – who also has children Colin and Elizabeth from his marriage to Samantha Lewes and Truman with Rita – admires him for working hard on establishing his career.

He told the New York Daily News’ Confidenti@l column: ”What I love about my kid is that he’s doing it. A lot of people sit around and wait for the phone to ring and wait for someone to invite them to do it and my kid has done it, he’s been doing it for six years.”

Though Chet is a musician, Colin an actor and Elizabeth a writer, the 58-year-old star insists his kids don’t ask him for advice, ”and rightly so.”

He said: ”I don’t have any secret knowledge that can help them advance. I always say to them, ‘Send it to me when you think it’s done’ and when they think it’s done they send it to me. I can only be a fan of what they’ve created. I’ve got no secrets to impart to anybody. I wish I did.”
