Tom Hanks to make Broadway debut

It’s just been confirmed that Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks will be making his Broadway debut in the new play, Lucky Guy, by the late Nora Ephron, who died earlier this year. This isn’t the first time Hanks is participating in Ephron’s work — he starred in her 1983 film Sleepless in Seattle. Although Hanks’ career in the film industry stretches back more than 30 years, this will be the actor’s first time performing in live theatre. He will be playing the lead role of Mike McAlary in Lucky Guy, a New York City reporter who was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his exposé about Haitian immigrant Abner Louima’s viscous beating at the hands of NYC police officers. Directed by George C. Wolfe, Lucky Guy is set to debut on April 1. ~Brandon Bastaldo
