Tribute at Gnomeo & Juliet London premiere

Tribute was on hand in Leicester Square along with Elton John, Emily Blunt, Stephen Merchant and others at the London premiere of the new 3-D animated family film, Gnomeo & Juliet.  The movie — produced by Elton John and his husband, Toronto’s David Furnish — focuses on forbidden love between feuding garden gnomes. Emily Blunt, who lends her voice to the garden gnome Juliet, sums up her new flick best: “I thought, ‘This story’s definitely not been done before, garden gnomes doing Shakespeare.'”

The adorable lawn characters bring the classic “Romeo and Juliet” to life in the new animated film, which had many of its stars on hand. Elton John gave fans a thrill with an appearance and even treated the invited guests to a rendition of his hit, “Crocodile Rock” after the screening. Elton collaborates with Lady Gaga on a duet for the soundtrack on a brand new pop track called “Hello Hello.” The song plays when Blunt’s Juliet first meets her Gnomeo — voiced by James McAvoy. Elton also collaborated with Canada’s own Nelly Furtado on another track. ~Bonnie Laufer-Krebs
