Tribute hosted the successful, first ever Fin Free Toronto fundraiser event September 14th at Ultra to launch the United Conservationists campaign in support of the proposed legislation to ban shark fin in the city of Toronto.  Boasting a crowd well over 600 fans, some of the fundraiser’s notables included Toronto City Councilor Kristyn Wong-Tam, Canadian actors Tattiawna Jones, Paula Brancati, Polly Shannon, Andrew Lewis and executive producer Joni Coquet.

Music guests such as the beautiful and talented Mia Martina performed live, singing her No. 1 worldwide hit “Stereo Love”; Danny Fernandes rocked the crowd with his hit single “Take Me Away” and in closing, Mia and the ever-popular Massari performed the duet “Latin Moon.”

Additional musicians who also came in support of the Fin Free event were JRDN “U can have it all” and Dru, best known for his song “Runnin.” Deejay Shine, known for working with artists Nelly Furtado and Jully Black, and Toronto DJ Lokei kept the crowd moving all night. International headlining DJ James Doman, direct from Los Angeles, closed the night with a set from his UK inspired house remixes. The night included a live body painting show by Natasha Kudashkina, featuring model/actress Erica Cox.

Sharkwater director Rob Stewart and his revolutionary team, the United Conservationists, raised the awareness of the impact shark finning has on our future. Taking centre stage mid-evening, Rob Stewart unveiled his upcoming film, Revolution, and encouraged supporters to donate the needed funds to continue the quest to make all of Canada fin free.
