After two weeks of sitting in second place at the box office, True Grit climbed to the Number 1 spot at the box office last weekend, taking in an estimated $15 million (all figures U.S.). This is the first of the Coen brothers’ films to reach $100 million, with its tally now standing at $110.4 million after three weeks and still going strong. True Grit is currently the fifth-highest grossing Western ever, but it’s expected to become No. 2 at the least, behind Dances with Wolves. Tribute users rated True Grit 4.1 out of 5 stars. Little Fockers was knocked to second place, grossing 13.78 million in its third weekend out and earning a 3.3 star rating from Tribute users. Season of the Witch starring Nicholas Cage debuted in third place with an estimated $10.73 million and a Tribute rating of 3.4 stars. In its fourth weekend, TRON: Legacy (Tribute rating: 4 stars) earned an additional $9.8 million in fourth place. The critically-acclaimed Black Swan , which has a 4.2 star Tribute rating, jumped from ninth place to fifth place, earning $8.3 million for a six-week total of $61.46 million. Country Strong starring Gwyneth Paltrow debuted in sixth place, but won high praise from Tribute users and a strong 4 star rating.

Has that ever happened before (other than Titanic) where the film does not open as #1 but gradually becomes #1??
I really want to see True Grit. On TV they keep showing the John Wayne version which is great so now I need to compare.
