Twilight sequel to get new director

Kristen Stewart and Robert PattinsonAlthough Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke sounded extremely enthusiastic about directing the sequel, New Moon, just a little over a week ago, it turns out that Summit Entertainment will have to find a new director, according to Variety. “I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon,” said Hardwicke. “Directing Twilight has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel – it is a great story.” This will likely be good news for the many Twilight book fans who thought that Hardwicke didn’t do a good job translating the novel to screen. New Moon is scheduled for release in 2010.

Thank god, she was one of the weak links in “Twilight”.. perhaps a few dollars more for special effects & acting lesson will be spent. (Though I enjoyed the film, despite these difficulties)

Hmmm….I get the impression that she was squeezed out. One of those “resign or we will be forced to fire you” moments!

Yeah, I’m thinking they wanted to get rid of her and this is the polite way of saying it.

Catherine did the best job she could on the budget she had. Good luck to her in her future endeavors (Lords of Dogtown was great!)

What the producers should do is get rid of Kristen Stewart. She ruined the entire movie for me! I read the books and she was nothing like what I had imagined. What a terrible young actress! I hear she is on lots of the drugs…that is too bad.
