Twisters on Blu-rayTwisters starts with a group of college students, led by Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who are chasing a storm in their home state of Oklahoma. It continues to grow into a twister as they try Kate’s experiment, which is meant to control it. From the moment the film begins, it’s a thrilling adventure that puts the audience right into the experience of being near and sometimes inside a tornado.

Unfortunately, the experiment goes badly as the tornado escalates far beyond what the students expected. Years later, Kate is working in an office in New York City, safely studying twisters on screens. Her old friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) convinces her to come back to Oklahoma to do a field study with new equipment.

He needs Kate, who has had a nose for tornadoes since she was a small child, to help him determine which ones will be the biggest and therefore, worthy of the study. She reluctantly agrees to come back to help him for a week.

In the field, she meets “Tornado Wrangler” Tyler (Glen Powell), who posts his twister-chasing adventures on YouTube and has amassed quite a following. He seems like a reckless thrill seeker who’s just out to get social media views, but Kate, who can assess a tornado with what appears to be a sixth sense, isn’t as talented when it comes to figuring out people, especially one like Tyler, who breezes through tornadoes with bluster and confidence.

Glen Powell turns in another finely tuned performance here, as a young man you may want to dislike, but almost from the beginning you can see there’s more to him than meets the eye and Powell lets the audience — and Kate — slowly discover who Tyler really is and what he’s actually doing.

Daisy Edgar-Jones, who wowed audiences in the 2022 box office hit Where the Crawdads Sing, again brings the best of her incredible talent to the table this time around. As someone who’s lost loved ones to twisters, Kate braves her fears in the hopes of helping the people of Oklahoma who are devastated by these tornadoes.

It’s not just a wild ride from start to finish — Twisters has a heart and story that provides not only insight into the characters and what they do, but an inside look at tornadoes — especially what to do and what not to do if you’re ever caught in one.

The Blu-ray and DVD have one hour of bonus features that are incredibly entertaining:
