Two and a Half Men to return without Charlie Sheen

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 29, 2011 | 17 Comments

Chuck Lorre has decided that Two and a Half Men will return with Jon Cryer as one of the stars, but without Charlie Sheen, who was fired from the show last month. Instead, a new, yet-to-be cast character will be introduced, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although Sheen has expressed interest in returning to the show, despite his $100 million lawsuit against the producers, Warner Bros. is adament that he won’t be invited back. Sources to the magazine say a midseason relaunch is more likely than a fall return, which will give the network and studio more time to retool the series. Cast member Angus T. Jones, 17, was not mentioned, but it’s assumed he’ll be returning for the ninth season.

Good, I hope the show will be as successful without Charlie.

    it won’t

charlie was the show. Alan is not a strong enough character to hold the show up.

I agree, but I’m hoping they can find someone to replace him who will be just as good, or better. I know it’s not likely, but I think that would be great.

It’ll be better without him. I may watch it now.

I bet Steven Tyler could pull it off.

    What about Judd Nelson ?!

  8. Myles • May 1, 2011 @ 8:40 AM

Robert Downey Jr would be awesome for it, but he is having too good of a comeback in the movies.

  9. Velveta • May 1, 2011 @ 11:00 AM

    1. Rob Lowe
    2. Any case member from Will & Grace (Deborah Messing, Megan Mullally or Eric McCormack)
    3. Tina Fey (although she’s already busy with her wonderfully sucessful and well deserved ’30 Rock’)

Not only would the show exceed without Charlie Sheen, but it would excel. Bravo to the networks for firing his addict backside. He needs to put his overinflated ego in check.

    Nobody is irreplaceable…nobody!

Myles and Velveta I soooo agree! Everyone but Fey, who I do love on 30Rock but think McCormack, Lowe or Downey Jr. would be fabulous!

I’d bring in Matt Leblanc. He’d be really good I think!

It’s not over till the fat lady sings… Charlie was not as good in the latest season anyway.. Hope they pick someone with his own unique personality and new twist to the show.

Doesn’t matter, remember Spin City after MJ Fox left and Charlie Sheen took over, I stopped watching and so did everyone else. 8 Simple Rules, after Ridder died, they tried all kinds of things and it failed. Imagine one of the Friends leaving and replacing him/her, would you have kept watching? Or Russel Brand doing Kramer, NOT.

    It’s over, NEXT!!!
