Uncharted holds onto top spot at weekend box office

Uncharted movie posterAlthough two big releases opened last Friday, neither of them made it into the top five — last weekend’s top movies remained unchanged.

The treasure hunt film Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, held onto the top spot for the second weekend in a row. The adventure film earned another $22.3 million for an impressive two-week total of $83.4 million.

Dog, starring Channing Tatum as an Army Ranger who has to drive a dog home to a fallen soldier’s parents, held onto second place in its second weekend, taking in another $10.1 million for a total of $30.1 million.

Spider-Man: No Way Home stayed in third place, earning an additional domestic total of $5.8 million for an 11-week total of $779.9 million. It’s the highest earning film since the pandemic hit.

Death on the Nile starring Kenneth Branagh as Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, was in fourth place again at the box office, earning an additional $4.5 million for a three-week total of $32.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was the final Jackass film, Jackass Forever. The action/comedy film earned an additional $3.2 million for a four-week total of $52 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
