Universal announces plans for The Purge 2

It may be a surprise that The Purge was crowned the box office champ this weekend after bringing in $34 million, but it’s no shocker that Universal is already developing a sequel. Along with the studio, producer Jason Blum has also signed on. Blum has already applied and received a $2.5 million tax credit to film in California, so production should begin by the end of this year. This isn’t the first horror movie hit for Blum, who is also known for producing scream-eliciting flicks such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Sinister. The Purge, which cost only a modest $3 million to make, focuses on a dystopian future in the U.S. where annually for one night, all crime, including murder, is legal. Ethan Hawke stars, with Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey playing his wife. The two, along with their family, find themselves hostages after hiding a murder subject in their house during the Purge. It’s not yet known whether writer/director James DeMonaco or any of the actors will be returning. ~Naomi Leanage

This movie makes you think and talk amongst your peers, but really it’s so far fetched. No way in hell this purge could work. Too many holes. ie: you would be on egg shells all year round for fear of pissing someone off. Someone just doesn’t like you, oh well you die. Ridiculas. And saving those people, now they can finish the deed 364 days later! That’s a year to plan!!!
