Vanessa Hudgens considered for Twilight sequel

By Alexandra Heilbron on January 13, 2009 | 16 Comments

Vanessa HudgensHigh School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens may be appearing in a role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in Twilight, told MTV.com that Hudgens was being considered for a role as Leah Clearwater, a feisty native girl who becomes part of Jacob Black’s werewolf clan. “I think she’d be great,” Greene told reporters. She also added that the script for New Moon is currently being rewritten. It wasn’t mentioned whether Hudgens’ longtime boyfriend, Zac Efron, was also being considered for a role. New Moon is scheduled to begin shooting in Vancouver in March, for release in theaters on November 20, 2009.

Update: Hudgen’s rep won’t confirm that she’s being considered for a role in New Moon, saying: “I don’t know anything about the audition. As far as I know, it’s just a rumor.”

Okay…. I can KIND OF see her as Leah Clearwater, as long as she doesn’t bring in her character from High School Musical… But for the love of God, keep Zac Efron away.

I agree, Mandy! Jeeze, they don’t have to do everything together do they?

I honestly don’t think that she could pull of Leah Clearwater. shes too nice. she would really have to work hard to get fans behind her on this one. I don’t know maybe she well do a good job

SERIOUSLY?!! No No No NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! She can not be Leah. Leah is suppose to be really mean and Vanessa’s not. She’s like to sweet to be Leah. AND Honestly Zac Efron? who could he be in the whole series? I think this would be a huge mistake. I disagree with her auditioning for Leahbut I could be wrong if she does a good job. In my opinion I just would never picture Leah looking like Vanessa Hudgens I picture someone who’s older. She would need to be excellent as Leah in able to get a twilight fan like myself on her side.

OH MY GOD that is really stupid. They need to keep the primped up high school musical star Vanessa away from this movie. Really I dont think she could pull it off. I would be really up set if they cast her. I dont think she could pull the role off and everyone would just she her as her High School Musical charater. Which would really make the movie suck. If they want to make a good movie keep her out of it and her boyfriend Zac Efron.

The first movie was ok but by casting stupid Disney people in it would make it flat out horrible. Its not a movie that involves horrible sing-a-longs, cheesy jokes, and completely annoying, overly happy people. Its a movie with an actual point and by casting people who can not act would be completely tragic. And the role of Leah Clearwater should really be someone who is actually native, not some hyped up “actress” who’s fan base is a bunch of little kids that will eat up anything that the media states is “cool”. What next … is Hanna Montana going to make a guest appearance?! They should really hire people who can act and leave Disney out of it!
