Vin Diesel says Facebook owes him billions

Fast and Furious 6 star Vin Diesel, 45, says Facebook owes him billions of dollars. The actor currently has over 41 million likes on Facebook – which he uses to connect with his fans and post updates on his adventures. Diesel says he once had the most popular page at a time when the social networking site was at its earlier stages of popularity. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly he explained, “What Facebook didn’t realize is something very big was about to happen… when I jumped on that page in April 2009, I started talking to people. In the realest ways.” He continued, “So, when I started talking to the fans, I became the No. 1 page in the world. Over Coca-Cola, over huge companies. And it was only because I said: ‘Hi guys, I love you.’” The star explains his social media connection with his fans by proposing the idea of imagining “if you could’ve been a Facebook friend to Marlon Brando, or whoever your role models are. Imagine, if you were able to Facebook Elvis, and talk to him, and hear from him without the Hollywood of it all.” Diesel’s popularity surprised the Facebook team. He says they approached him “to come up to their office to explain what the —- I was doing, and why I had so many fans.” The actor writes all his own posts and says his audience knows him so well because of it. “Facebook really owes me billions of dollars,” he said in jest, “But whatever.” ~Sarah Dos Santos
