Paramount Pictures has hired Stephen Sommers, the director of The Mummy and Van Helsing, to helm a live-action G.I. Joe film. The movie will be based on the popular military dolls for boys. Mark Wahlberg has been rumored to be starring in the project, which begins production in February for a 2009 release.
