Watch: Baz Luhrmann, Jaden Smith talk Netflix’s The Get Down

The Get Down creator Baz Luhrmann, Jaden Smith and other cast members discuss the emerging blurred lines between TV and movies and how Netflix is giving creators the freedom to tell the story in their own way.

The new Netflix show, set in ’70s era South Bronx in the early genesis of hip-hop, is a musical drama series that follows a group of misfit teenagers — Zeke (Justice Smith), Mylene (Herizen F. Guardiola), Dizee (Jaden Smith), Shaolin Fantastic (Shameik Moore), Cadillac (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Ra-Ra (Skylan Brooks) — as they make their way through the trials of adolescence and living in a broken-down New York City.
