Wesley Snipes heading to the slammer

Wesley Snipes is heading to the slammer after not filing his taxes for five years. The action star was sentenced yesterday to three years behind bars – the maximum penalty for tax evasion – despite pleas from fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington. But U.S District Judge William Terrell Hodges refused to release Snipes on probation and order the actor to serve the maximum sentence. Snipes had also been charged – but was acquitted – with tax fraud, filing a false claim, as well as three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a tax return. Details of when Snipes will start his sentence and the prison where he will serve his term have not yet been released.
He should of went drunk driving, then he wouldn’t have to serve time.

Yeah, he could easily pay what he owes, so why didn’t he do that in the first place? He’s smart enough to know that it is a federal offence to not pay them, he can certainly afford it, so wtf?

should have filed his taxes. Why is it always the rich that think they don’t have to pay their way. Us normal folks that can hardly make ends meet do our share pay ours so why should a man in his finacial position think he gets a free ride in todays society. Hope this smartens up so the the rest of the rich loosers.

He probably would have gotten less time if he never filed.
He’s a celebrity. He’ll probably be out in three weeks because of overcrowding, or good behaviour.
Anonymous on April 26 @ 8:48 pm…….Snipes was acquitted on those 2 felony charges of filing false claims and fraud from previous tax years. The 3 years he was just sentenced to is for willfully failing to file his income tax returns for the years 1999-2001. So actually, he got MORE time for not filing!!
All he needs is to do another movie, and I’m sure he has lots of offers all the time, that would give him enough money to pay off his back taxes, live well, and prepare to avoid paying taxes again next year!
Supposedly, the media said that he paid the government $5 million right there in court the other day, but the point is that it was too late…sure, it paid the back taxes for those specified # of years but, he still tried to deceive the government, and that folks….is a FEDERAL OFFENCE!!!
I don’t think they ever sent Willie Nelson to prison though, and he owed close to $30 million!!
