What to watch at home this week – December 5 to 11

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio – A reinvention of the classic tale of the wooden marionette (voice of Gregory Mann) who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto (voice of David Bradley). He soon goes off to have adventures of his own with Sebastian J. Cricket (voice of Ewan McGregor). Debuts December 9 on Netflix.

The Mysterious Benedict Society: Season 2 – This season, Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance, the four gifted orphans who were recruited by the eccentric Mr. Benedict (Tony Hale), embark on another mission to save the world from the nefarious plans of his twin brother Dr. L.D. Curtain (also Hale). Debuts December 7 on Disney+.

Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again – Nick Daley’s (voice of Joshua Bassett) summer gig as night watchman at the American Museum of Natural History is a challenging job for a high school student, but he is following in his father’s footsteps and is determined not to let him down. Luckily, he is familiar with the museum’s ancient tablet that brings everything to life when the sun goes down and is happy to see his old friends, including Jedediah, Octavius, and Sacagawea, when he arrives. But when the maniacal ruler Kahmunrah escapes with plans to unlock the Egyptian underworld and free its Army of the Dead, it is up to Nick to stop him. Debuts December 9 on Disney+.

Amsterdam – During WWI, Burt Berendsen (Christian Bale) and his best friend, Harold Woodsman (John David Washington) meet volunteer nurse Valerie Voze (Margot Robbie) when they’re both injured in battle. The three become friends and form a pact to protect each other, no matter what. When they go on a trip together to Amsterdam, Valerie mysteriously disappears. Available December 6 on DVD/Blu-ray and debuts December 7 on Disney+.
