Whitney Houston dead at 48

Singer Whitney Houston was found dead in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton Hotel this afternoon. She was 48. Houston’s incredible voice and range brought her superstardom at the top of the charts, but her career went downhill due to drug use and a tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown. Police say Houston had a large number of people with her when she died. Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen told KTLA News: “She had quite an entourage upstairs. She is here with family, friends and co-workers.” A member of her entourage called paramedics, who arrived at approximately 3:30 p.m. CPR was performed on her for 20 minutes, but she was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m. A cause of death has not been determined, but foul play is not suspected. She leaves behind an 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.
