Why Emily Blunt broke her rule for John Krasinski

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the Paramount Pictures release A Quiet Place
Emily Blunt has a firm rule about making movies. “I have a minimum of a five-month rule between projects,” she told The Hollywood Reporter during an interview with her husband, John Krasinski. One of the reasons she didn’t want to appear in John’s film, A Quiet Place, was because as he was getting the final draft ready, she was cast in Mary Poppins Returns.

Emily had actually initially recommended a friend to play the role of Evelyn in A Quiet Place before her husband could ask her to do it. She says, “I was about to go into this enormous project. I was like, ‘I can’t even.’ ” John didn’t ask, though, because he was afraid she’d either turn him down or feel obligated.

However, when she finally read the script, it blew her away. “I couldn’t imagine the thought of letting someone else play the part,” she revealed, adding, “I broke the [five-month] rule for him and him alone.”

As soon as she had finished work on Mary Poppins Returns in London, England, Emily flew to upstate New York to join the production of A Quiet Place. For her role as a pregnant wife and mother raising her children during a time of extreme stress, Emily received a Supporting Actress nomination from the Screen Actors Guild. At the same time, she’s been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Mary Poppins Returns.

A Quiet Place, which was the 14th highest-earning movie at the 2018 box office, has already won a number of awards and is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. It’s believed to be a strong contender for several categories at the Academy Awards. The nominations will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Meanwhile, the Golden Globe awards will air live this Sunday, Jan. 6 on NBC and CTV. ~Alexandra Heilbron

I watched this at home because I didnt get a chance to go to the theater, but boy I wish I could have. It kept me drawn in the entire movie, which rarely happens anymore! I tend to usually get on my phone or laptop if I watch a movie at home, but this was a full on eyes glued to the screen intently the entire time! Thanks John &Emily!
