Will Smith and Jaden Smith to co-star in sci-fi

Will Smith and his 12-year-old son Jaden Smith have signed to co-star in a new movie together. They first played a father and son in the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness, which was Jaden’s movie debut. This time around, they’ll again play a father and son, but the film  will be set 1,000 years in the future. The still-untitled movie will be directed and co-written by M. Night Shyamalan, who desperately needs a hit after flops such as The Happening, The Last Airbender and Lady in the Water. Will and wife Jada Pinkett Smith will also act as producers on the film, which follows the father/son team as they travel across a desolate, post-apocalyptic Earth after their ship crash-lands there. Shyamalan said in a press release: “The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starring Jaden and Will is my dream project.” Jaden starred in last year’s The Karate Kid, also produced by his parents, while Will hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2008’s Seven Pounds.

I generally like most of Will Smith’s projects. here’s hoping Shyamalan doesn’t mess this up.

He hasn’t been in a movie since 2008 but his kid has, and his other kid Willow is being pimped out as a singer. I’m sure Will has enough money but it sure seems like he’s trying to milk his kids for all he can get.

1st, The Last Airbender was hated by most critics but was financially successful, otherwise, I don’t think any studio would back another one of his projects.

2nd, I’m not a fan of Will Smith, I admit that Jayden has talent but I feel like Smith’s efforts to make both his kids stars is a really bad idea. It will not end well.

I won’t comment on the movie before seing it but the premise sounds like a big budget 2 hour Sitcom.

Those kids are going to hate their parents when they get older. Kid performers usually do, and in this case, why are they doing it? They don’t need the money; they have enough fame — those are the two biggest reasons people put their kids to work.

This is going to suck big time. Can’t stand either of the Smiths.
