The Wednesday premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Mexico City has been cancelled due to swine flu, according to 20th Century Fox. Hugh Jackman was the only star scheduled to appear at the premiere, but the studio doesn’t want to take any chances. “We were not only concerned about Hugh’s [Jackman’s] welfare – and we would never send anyone into harm’s way – but we also have an enormous office filled with people we care about,” said a Fox rep. “There was no point in proceeding under the current conditions.” The movie will still open in Mexico this weekend, though it’s doubtful many Mexicans will venture out to enjoy a movie anytime soon. The government is asking residents to stay home, and many schools and businesses are closed. The virus has so far killed more than 100 people in the country. ~movi_alex
