Wolverine review costs writer his job

Entertainment journalist Roger Friedman was fired after he posted a premature review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine online last Friday.  The day after 20th Century Fox called the FBI to find out who had leaked the film online, Friedman wrote about how easy it was to find a stolen copy on the net, adding that downloading the film was “so much easier than going out in the rain.” Movie website RopeofSilicon.com asked, “Where does FoxNews.com come up with the balls to publish a review of an unfinished illegal copy of a film their sister company [20th Century Fox] is so desperately trying to squelch the existence of?” Friedman was given a chance to defend himself to Fox executive vice president John Moody, explaining why he shouldn’t be fired, but he lost his case. Fox News called Friedman’s behaviour “reprehensible” and removed the column from the website. ~Meryl H.
