World War Z – Exclusive preview

Last week a select number of journalists were invited to a very special EXCLUSIVE preview of Paramount Picture’s upcoming movie, World War Z in Los Angeles, and Tribute was there as the only Canadian media outlet to be asked — here’s the Canadian exclusive. Star and producer Brad Pitt was there to introduce the footage and told us that he wanted to make a movie that his kids could go see. Also on hand to talk about the film was director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, Machine Gun Preacher)  who stayed afterwards for a 20-minute Q&A session.

We were first shown the trailer in 3D, and I’ve got to tell you I was pretty much on the edge of my seat for the entire preview. Then the footage switched to 2-D and we were treated to some never before screened scenes, including a look at some of the zombies and how fast the humans are transformed. Shot mainly in Glasgow, Budapest and Malta, the movie looks intense and from what Brad told us the intensity doesn’t let up for the entire film.  The effects were pretty amazing, especially a very cool shot of multiplying zombies climbing up a wall to get at the innocent humans they intend to infest. At the end of the screening I literally found it hard to catch my breath!

Based on Max Brook’s popular zombie novel, the story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who travels the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies, governments and threatening to decimate humanity.

Forster also revealed that the movie could kick off a new trilogy of zombie-apocalyptic movies, which wouldn’t be surprising given the immense popularity of zombies these days (Warm Bodies, Dead Snow).

In addition to Brad, the movie also stars Matthew Fox and David Morse. Look for World War Z in theaters  June 21st  — it’s going to be a thrill ride you won’t want to miss!!
