WWE star Shad Gaspard’s body found on Venice Beach

Shad GaspardThe body of former WWE star Shad Gaspard, 39, was found washed up on Venice Beach early this morning after being swept out to sea.

Gaspard went missing last weekend during a swim with his 10-year-old son, Aryeh, when the pair were caught in a rip current. Gaspard was last seen about 50 yards from the shore.

He had told lifeguards to focus on saving Aryeh — when they returned, Gaspard had been taken under by a large wave. His son and several other swimmers made it out safely. Police and the U.S. Coast Guard searched the water for two days before calling off the search Tuesday.

Prior to the news, Gaspard’s wife, Siliana, issued a statement on Instagram thanking everyone for their support.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the first responders who rescued Aryeh and to the lifeguards, coast guard, divers, fire and police departments for their continued efforts to help find our beloved Shad,” the post reads. “Shad is a fighter, a warrior and a magical soul. We are hoping and praying for his safe return. As a family we thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Please continue to keep sending your positivity and prayers to our beloved Shad.”

Gaspard was best known as one half of the WWE’s Cryme Tyme with his partner JTG. He retired from the WWE in 2010 and has had small roles in television and film. ~Brie Davis

He did what I think all fathers would do. He is a hero. He was a caring father. I think it was still a selfless act and I hope he can rest in peace knowing his son is safe.

This is just awful and so sad. Shad seemed like such a good person. A couple years ago he helped stop a robbery and so many people that knew him only have good things to say about him. He showed his true character in a moment of truth and chose to sacrifice his life to save his Son’s. People might say that’s what a Father is supposed to do but so many Father’s and people in general wouldn’t. He should’ve had so much more success than he did with his wrestling career. When he was with JTG Cryme Tyme was so over and should have had multiple tag team title reigns with dominant long reigns as well. But racism is definitely a factor in this case because as hot as they were they didn’t do much with them as a team other than comedy bits and then when they split them up they did nothing with them as singles wrestlers except bury them. The Street Prophets are in the exact same spot. They are so over but their career has been mediocre. That’s what WWE does. Booker didn’t have anywhere near the career that he did in WCW. They buried him when he came in and the Rock won the WCW title like it was nothing. Then that disgusting little program he had with Triple H where it looked like Booker was finally going to get the push he earned and was so over and Triple H makes that disrespectful remark to Booker referencing to Black wrestlers that your supposed to just provide me with entertainment but your not supposed to go anywhere which is sickly not even a joke that’s exactly how Vince feels. Then for the big match at Wrestlemania 19 where Booker gets his shot at the title which he should’ve won not only does he lose but Triple H hits Booker with a Pedigree and they are both lying on the mat for 10 seconds and Triple H finally crawls over to pin Booker in a spot where you thought for sure Booker is going to kick out that’s why they had the delay. Nope 123 it’s all over and to put a cherry on top Booker doesn’t even get a rematch. They don’t ever wrestle on tv again. Anyways back to Shad it’s just heartbreaking and hurts so bad. What sucks the most is that his son witnessed his father being taken away from the stream and won’t ever forget that memory. Even more he lost his Father who won’t be able to raise him even though he will always be with him and will reunite with him one day. It’s just horrible. My True Honest Deepest and Most Sincerest Condolences. People get defined by their career or how much money and materlistic things they have too often rather than how they carried themselves as a human being to others and themselves and how they made those around them feel which is the way everyone really should be defined. Shad will always be remembered for the good hearted person he was, the people he touched along the way and the good deeds he did as well as the sacrifices he made that is the definition of what a man should be. He was a beautiful soul and I know he’s in the right place in our true home where we will all join eachother one day but the next time around it will be permanently.❤🙏

It’s people like this that are the true heros and embodiment of the good and love in someone that cared about his son first, and acted unselfishly to save his life and make sure that he was okay. God bless you, man. I know your son and family will never forget your deed. Neither should all of us. May you be at peace.

He’s a hero and a hero dad. What a tragedy for his family.
