X-Men pilot on the way for Fox

Mutants unite! An untitled X-Men pilot has been officially ordered by Fox.

According to Variety, the action-adventure program will be developed by 20th TV and Marvel Television, and will be written and executive produced by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. Bryan Singer, who’s been heavily involved in the X-Men films, is on board as an executive producer as well.

Plot details are limited at this point, but it has been revealed that the pilot will follow two ordinary parents who learn that their children have special mutant powers. When a threatening government discovers the children’s abilities, the family is forced underground and teams up with a network of mutants. The fight for survival commences.

The project is the second Marvel TV program heading to Fox. Legion, a Bryan Singer-produced effort between FX Productions and Marvel TV, is scheduled to premiere Feb. 8, 2017.

The next film to hit screens with an X-Men influence is Logan, which profiles Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine character. It slashes into theaters March 3, 2017.
