We asked our readers to choose what the cover of Tribute magazine’s November/December issue and we listened! We gave you a choice between Richard Armitage, who plays Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, or Ian McKellen, who returns in his role as Gandalf the Grey. A whopping 62 per cent chose Ian McKellen and he’ll be our cover boy in the issue that will be available in theaters soon. It also goes out to home subscribers of The Sunday Sun. Thanks to all who voted!

Sir Ian McKellan and Hellen Mirran portray an affable and captivating duo as they expertly play a game of cat-and-mouse in this tense thriller.

Take a look behind the scenes of the film Cats, adapted from the Tony Award-winning musical of the same, starring Taylor Swift, Judi Dench, Idris Elba and more!
Good choice! Not a hobbit fan, but I like Ian McKellen. He would’ve made a good Dumbledore.
A non “The Hobbit” option would have been nice.
AHH!! Can’t choose, both are AWESOME!! I would say the second one because his character is unknown to many movie-goers including me, so I think he would be best for the cover. 🙂
1) You never closed out the voting for the cover, nor did you state a “vote by” date.
2) It definitely doesn’t read with Gandalf in the lead at all. It’s Thorin (Richard Armitage) ahead.
3) Give voting at least a couple of weeks. I’d only heard about this today.
They’re both fine options, but, if you have to pick one… of course you must go with Gandalf.
A total no-brainer.
Would have bought it,IF it had been Thorin Oakenshield, Richard Armitage.
Why didn’t you just do both covers (there’s been two different covers before of the same issues) or have the fold out option? Makes it a lot easier and pleases everyone. That being said, I prefer Gandalf.
I get reason for Gandalf but I agree with the other poster…I would BOUGHT the magazine if Richard Armitage was on cover. Love him!! Check out BBC – North and South starring Richard Armitage. Spooks/MI5—Matthew Macfayden, Rupert Perry Jones and then Richard Armitage.
